A regular clean keeps a home tidy. A deep clean restores it. The difference lies in all the places a regular clean skips — inside appliances, behind furniture, under sink traps, on top of cabinets, inside window tracks. Over time, these areas accumulate grime, bacteria, and allergens that affect the air quality and feel of your home.

This checklist covers every area of your home, room by room. Work through it once or twice a year, or book a professional deep clean and hand it over entirely.

How long does it take? A thorough deep clean of an average 2-bedroom home takes 4–6 hours for one person, or 2–3 hours for a team of two. Set aside a full day and work methodically — rushing leads to missed areas.

Kitchen

The kitchen collects more grease, bacteria, and odour than any other room. Don't skip anything here.

🍳 Kitchen Checklist

  • Clean inside the oven — remove racks, soak in hot soapy water, apply oven cleaner to cavity
  • Degrease stovetop burners, drip trays, and surrounding surfaces
  • Clean the rangehood and soak the grease filter
  • Wipe inside the microwave — use a bowl of hot water with lemon to loosen dried food first

  • Pull fridge and oven out — clean underneath and behind

Bathrooms & Toilets

Bathrooms need particular attention to mould, limescale, and soap scum — all of which build up over time and become harder to remove if left too long.

Entry, Hallway & Stairs

🚪 Entry & Hallway Checklist

  • If stairs: vacuum each step and wipe the banister and spindles

The Areas Most People Forget

Even diligent cleaners often overlook these spots — they make a big difference when addressed:

  • Top of the refrigerator — collects a thick layer of greasy dust
  • Inside light switches and power point covers — wipe the surrounds
  • Door tops and above door frames — dust accumulates here unseen
  • Under and behind the toilet — often skipped during regular cleans
  • Window tracks — fill with debris and dead insects
  • Under the kitchen sink — check for leaks and wipe down the cabinet interior
  • Air conditioning filters — remove and wash or vacuum according to the manufacturer's guide
  • Ceiling corners — cobwebs accumulate here, especially in corners and behind doors
How often should you deep clean? Most homes benefit from a full deep clean every 6–12 months, in addition to regular weekly cleaning. If you have pets, young children, or allergies, more frequent deep cleans make a noticeable difference to air quality and hygiene.
